Change your TAN data​

STEPS FOR ONLINE CHANGE REQUEST

Step - I ​

Visit https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/tan/index.html and select Online Application for Changes or Correction in TAN Data for TAN allotted (TAN Change Request Form)or click here

Step - II

Fill TAN Change Request form online and submit the form (Fill all mandatory fields (marked with *) of the Form and select the corresponding box on left margin of appropriate field where correction is required)

Step - III

If the data submitted by applicant fails in any format level validation, a response indicating the error(s) will be displayed on the screen;

Step - IV

Forms need to be re-submitted after rectifying the error(s);

Step - V

In case form level error(s) do not exists a confirmation screen with data filled by the applicant will be displayed.

Step - VI

In case applicant required any amendment to the data displayed in the confirmation screen, it may choose the edit option.

Step - VII

In case the displayed information is correct, applicant shall choose the confirm option.

Step - VIII

On successful payment of Fees (in case the mode of payment is other than DD or Cheque) an acknowledgment slip will be generated

Step - IX 

Applicant shall save and print the acknowledgment and send it to alongwith requisite documents to Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) at

Note :

1) TAN change request can be made for 'change of category of the applicant' only if category is erroneously mentioned in the Income Tax Department (ITD) TAN database. For example if ABC Ltd. is categorised as 'Firm' in ITD TAN database the category can be changed to 'Company' which is the correct category.

2) In case of cancellation request, TAN to be cancelled should not be same as TAN (the one currently used) mentioned at the top of the form.
